Please join the Santa Clarita Amateur Radio Club (SCARC) on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, except for the December holiday dinner.  Our next meeting will be Wednesday, August 17th at 7:00 pm for our monthly meeting. The guest for the August 17th meeting will be Diana Feinberg, AI6DF ARRL Section Manager. She will discuss amateur radio’s annual International Lighthouse & Lightship Weekend (held this year on August 19-21) and recent ARRL developments. The Club Officers/Board meeting will start at 6:30pm.

Both the Board meeting and monthly club meeting are located at the Santa Clarita Senior Center, near Old Downtown Newhall, 22900 Market St. Santa Clarita, CA 91321-3609. The meeting room is in the back of the facility.  Attendance is Free!  Be sure to contact SCARC President Randy Comeau, W6BC, for more information.  Email is the best way to get a quick response!

Amateur Radio License Exams

Sessions are held on the 3rd Saturday of every odd month (January, March, May, July, September, and November) at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center – Room A6. If you wish to take a test, you need to contact Ron Klein, K6VPV by telephone (661) 259-0948 at least five days before the testing session. This is so that we can have the necessary forms and testing materials ready for you and so that you can be informed on what you need to bring with you.

Our next test session will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 @ 8:00 AM

The Santa Clarita Amateur Radio club is pleased to announce the installation of our first digital repeater – a Yaesu System Fusion DR1-X. The repeater is at the Castaic Lake Water Agency site, using 146.970, -0.600, 123.0 PL. It is set to operate in AUTO / AUTO mode, where analog signals will be passed as analog and digital signals will be passed as digital. Analog and digital radios cannot communicate with each other directly in this mode, so if you hear repetitive noise bursts on analog it indicates there is a digital QSO already on the repeater. The system is currently standalone – not linked with other repeaters or the Internet. These will be future developments. Please give it a try and see how you like it. Feedback or bug reports can be sent to Chris, KK6MLY via email – kk6mly [at] dslextreme [dot] com, or during the weekly club nets.

There may be a T-hunt this weekend on Saturday evening. For more info on T-Hunts you can contact Danny, W6DDW @ 661-296-2339. Click Here for details such as meeting time and location.
